My Community Pitch

During class last week we did a community pitch to students, teachers, faculty, and parents where we told them about our project and what our plan is to execute it. Not gonna lie-- I was very nervous because it made this project a reality. I knew that once I gave my pitch, I would be held accountable because people other than my classmates and I knew about my plan. After I pitched a couple times I got more comfortable and could easily talk about my topic. One thing I know I need to work on is talking slower because once I knew what I was going to tell people, I sounded like a robot reading from a script. Also, since my project targets girls ages 12-18 most of the boys I presented to, as expected, were not interested in my project. Other than that I think my pitch went very well. I got lots of positive feedback from the people who listened to my pitch. Many parents understood the effects of social media because they have firsthand experience of how it has affected their kids. All the parents I talked to believed that body positivity was a very important topic to recognize especially during middle school and high school as girls begin to realize their differences from other girls. Also, many of the girls I talked to could relate to the problems I addressed and welcomed solutions to stopping comparison online.

The poster above gave people a visual to look at while I was pitching my project to them. I love how the poster turned out-- thanks to my! She has a ton of scrapbooking materials and helped me design my poster. I did not want the poster to have a lot of words on it because I was gonna be talking about my project. But, I wanted my poster to be a good summary of my project for everyone to look at. I don't know when else I will use the poster but I definitely want to keep it just in case.
